    The blue whale is the largest animal in the world and gives birth to the largest newborn.

    A blue whale is born with an average weight of three tons and an average length of 25 feet.  In order to reach adult size, about 180 metric tons and 100 feet long, the young whale eats enough to gain about 200 pounds a day during it’s first year of life.  See the citation below for some more large baby animals.
