The largest animal that calls the Amazon River home is the anaconda snake.  It is known as one of the largest and strongest snakes of the world.  It can reach lengths of up to 20 ft long, 12 inches wide and 330 pounds.  It kills its prey by constricting until the animal cannot breathe any longer.  It lives in the Amazon river and rain forests and swamps near the Amazon.

It’s not the largest animals, but the Capybara is the largest rodent on Earth and calls the Amazon home.  It is two feet tall and can reach 100 lbs.  It is a great swimmer and is also on the endangered species list.
