Lake Mungo is an archaelogical site in Mungo National Park, Australia.  Aborigines inhabited the area 40,000- 50,000 years ago, making it one of the oldest or the oldest site occupied by humans.  The lake dried up 14,000 years ago and many fossils of extinct and existing animals have been found there.  Mungo Man and Mungo Lady are two famous remains found there.  Mungo Man is estimated to be 40,000-60,000 years old, and Mungo Lady is recognized as the first ritually cremated body at about 40,000 years old.
