The most wide spread health problem for 9/11 workers is lung abnormalities and decrease lung function.  About 70% of workers either developed or worsened a lung problem from inhaling smoke and debris.  What started as a cough turned out to be much more according to a Mount Sinai report.  After nine years, the long term affects are still being studied.
