Next to none. The big plumes you see coming from the the cooling towers is steam, not harmful gases. The real danger of nuclear power comes from the waste of spent nuclear fuel, which is radioactive. Most nuclear waste is low-level, meaning it is relatively harmless, but some is highly radioactive. Radioactivity weakens over time, but on the level of many lifetimes, to hundreds of thousands of years, so storage facilities “treat” the waste, and it is stored. If the radiation escapes the storage facility, it can have adverse environmental and health effects.
