What kinds of frogs to schools use for their dissections?

Usually bullfrogs.  They are bred specifically for scientific purposes.  However, there are a portion of grass frogs that are specifically reserved for scientific research per year.  These frogs come from an area of desert that was converted into farmland.  The change of environment caused an increase in frog population.

You can do a virtual dissection online at the 1st link below. Normally it is the bullfrog used for dissection, because it is common and big. Did you know they often put a dye in the frog to make the organs stand out more?

Either bullfrogs (Rana catesbeiana) or leopard frogs (Rana pipiens) are used for classroom dissections. Bullfrogs have been introduced to western United States and are very invasive. Some dissection frogs are being collected from ponds where bullfrogs have been introduced and are causing declines of native species.

Several tools now exist to perform dissections on-line.
