Killer whales prey on many different types of marine life, including fish, squid, sea birds like penguins, and marine mammals. A pod may sometimes even kill and eat other whale species; killer whales are the largest mammal-eating predators in the world. They are also highly intelligent, and different populations of killer whales may develop somewhat different hunting “traditions” over time. Specific populations in certain areas sometimes have different feeding habits than killer whales elsewhere.
