There are various breeds that can be used for dog sledding. I have attached a link for a list of each dog.
Actually, I attended the Mackinaw Mush last year and learned that Alaskan huskies aren’t very commonly used for dog sled racing anymore! Most sledders breed their own dogs, usually mutts because they tend to be healthier than pure bred dogs. There are all sorts of mixed breed, one I saw a lot was a mix between a greyhound a husky. You wouldn’t recognize most of the dogs that are used by common sledders by breed.
