One way animals protect each other is through symbiotic relationships (where both plants/animals are benefitted through each others existence. In Madagascar, it has been discovered that lemurs play a vital role in the health of the rainforest. Lemurs are an important seed dispersal source in Madagascar and a whole genera of plant depend on lemurs to disperse their seeds. While this is not a direct example of an animal protecting another animal, the results are the same. While lemurs are protecting the health of the rainforest, they are protecting the homes of numerous different species of animals.
