Penguins are the most associated with Antarctica. Whales, squids and seals live in the waters of the area. Also important to the habitat are microscopic organisms, especially krill.
There are only a few types of animals native to Antarctica. Among them are a few types of duck, a pipet, flies, midges, moths, beetles, and earthworms, along with microscopic organisms. The other animals that are found there — the penguins, sea birds, seals, etc. — make their home in the sea, but spend portions of their lives on land, mainly to reproduce. The water around Antarctica is very rich in wildlife, including whales, squid, octopuses, and fish which have evolved to the cold temperatures.
