What kind of wood is the skin to those hollow doors?

Most hollow doors have a think veneer of wood on the front and back. This wood veneer is only 1/16″ or so thick and is glued to plywood, usually something cheap like maple or pine. The veneer “skin” can vary from pine, maple, oak, cherry or other common woods depending on what color and grain pattern you are looking for.
