What kind of vegetables is vegetable oil made from?

    There are many different types of plants that are grown and harvested in order to produce vegetable oil. Nuts, fruits, and some melons are also used to produce oils.

    The majority of vegetable oil is produced from: coconut, corn, cottonseed, olive, palm, peanut, rapeseed, safflower, sesame, soybean, and sunflower oil.

    There are several different type of vegetable oils available for use. However, the main vegetable oils include canola, corn, olive, peanut, safflower, and soybean oil. The oils in vegetable oil are gleaned mainly from nuts and seeds. For instance, canola oil comes from the rapeseed plant. Corn oil is extracted from the germ of the corn kernel and safflower oil is derived from safflower seeds.
