The United States Department of Energy says that the appliances most guilty of wasting energy in the average home are the refrigerator, washer, and dryer.
It has been reported that phone chargers are becoming large energy wasters in recent years, and in the summer, air conditioners are also a culprit.
Refrigerators and clothes dryers are the household appliances that use the most energy. The refrigerator is a big offender because it is always on. The clothes dryer uses a great deal of energy because it must generate heat. Basically, appliances that are used to create or remove heat consume the most energy.
