A strong background in math and physics is absolutely necessary. Then you must look into a four-year college with an undergraduate program in atmospheric science which leads to a bachelor’s degree in meteorology or a related field. Valparaiso University in indiana has such a program. Make sure to take classes that lend to atmospheric sciences, including a lot of meteorology, physics, biology, etc.
