The Empire State Building is undergoing a major green renovation, which will cut energy consumption by a massive 40%, $4.4 million every year. The renovators aim to get the Energy Star rating of 90 from EPA as well as Gold rating from LEED. Windows will be changed to triple glazed windows to reduce the need for air conditioning, they will use insulating radiators, modernized air conditioning and occupancy sensors to reduce energy usage.
