The organization Arizona Public Service collects and reports information regarding renewable energy in the state. Currently, wind is the most-used form of renewable energy there. Here is some additional information related to this topic: As of 2001, renewable energy sources accounted for only 1 megawatt of total energy. Yet, as of 2011, over 362 megawatts are generated per year, the majority being produced through windmill farms. In second place is solar energy, created through solar water heater and photovoltaic solar electricity systems. Furthermore, the Arizona Corporation Commission has passed the Renewable Energy Standard and Tariff, which commands that by 2025, at least 15% of the total energy produced by electric companies must be from various renewable sources, which also include geothermal, biomass and biogas energy technologies.
