    Lay’s uses white potatoes for their potato chips which are grown in 80 farms across the US.

    To add to that answer Lay’s has also begun to choose farms that are local for their potatoes. The Lay’s brand chips focuses on 80 “local” farmers from 27 states who grow the potatoes for the chips. This marketing strategy allows people to find out the location of the plant where the potatoes came from.
