Bonobos are human’s closest relative. They live in the Democratic Republic of Congo. They share 98.4% the same DNA as humans. They walk bipedally and have many behavioral qualities that are like humans.
Our closest relatives are the two species chimpanzees, normal and pigmy chimpanzees (bonobos). We’re equally related to both species of chimpanzees in the same was you’re equally related to two of your first cousins who are brother and sister.
After the Chimpanzees, our closest relatives are Gorillas, and then, more distantly, Orangutans. Orangutans are our closest relatives outside of Africa, they live on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo in Indonesia and Malaysia.
