What kind of mining is the worst for the environment?

A form of strip mining known as mountain-top removal is said to be the form of mining with the greatest environmental impact. This highly efficient method of mining is also responsible for the loss of thousands of jobs as many miners aren’t required for these operations. In West Virginia, acreage of forest measured in the hundreds of thousands has been destroyed by mountain-top removal mining techniques.

Probably has to be strip mining because miners dig out a large area and reveal the resources under it, for example, a guy happens along a flat area of fertile soil, but then some miners grab some tools and rip all the soil out to get the coal beneath it. Then, they move on to a meadow, and crush the pretty flowers for more coal. That’s strip mining. Ouch!
