Naturally metal is found in our environment and causes no harm to it. However, when humans industrially produce metal in mass numbers, the carbon emissions and pollutants do the damage. In fact the production of Iron and Steel are the third most carbon emitting source today.
Well, mercury is a potentially harmful metal that is naturally occurring in the environment. Mercury is released into the environment by natural sources such as volcanoes, oceans, and soils erosion. In high levels mercury can be detrimental to human and animal health. While it is possible to be exposed to high dosage of mercury in natural sources, the main sources of high levels of mercury occur from burning of fossil fuels and mining.
