What kind of mattress is worst for the environment?

Normal coil-spring mattresses typically only last 6-8 years, while latex mattresses can last up to 20 years.  This means that latex mattresses contribute to landfill waste less than coil-springs.  Certain latex mattresses are also biodegradable.  But almost all mattresses (coil-spring, memory foam, air pocket, latex) are made using petroleum-based chemicals, and have been shown to emit chemical vapor as you toss and turn that can cause health concerns.
