Bee populations around the world are suffering from a mysterious issue known as colony collapse disorder. Afflicted hives simply seem to stop functioning and die out quite suddenly with no apparent cause. By fitting some bees with microchips, scientists hope to gain some information about why colony collapse occurs. Information can include the bees’ normal routes and how those routes change when the bees become confused, possibly as a result of exposure to pesticides.
