What kind of grass do golf courses use for their greens?

    Most putting greens use creeping bent grass.  The link below shows you how to build a backyard putting green.

    It really depends on where the green is.  In the north, its mostly bentgrass or bluegrass.  In the south its bermuda grass or ryegrass.

    In the north, most tee areas use bentgrass, roughs and fairways use bluegrass, and hazards/very deep rough use rough bluegrass.  In the south more bermuda grass is used.  Tee areas use a hybrid bermuda, fairways use bermuda and perennial ryegrass, and roughs use st. augustine, common bermuda, or ryegrass.
