Different types of grasses are used for stadiums in different climates. The company Scotts began selling stadium grass seed to the public this year. This seed is a bluegrass variety and is the same blend used at the Cardinals’ Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Different varieties of are blended and hybridized to create a “stadium-quality” turf. Blends of Kentucky bluegrass were also used for Yankee Stadium. Still, some stadiums rely on artificial grass, which don’t have to be watered.
