what kind of farm is the greenest?

Arguably the greenest farms are the traditional, organic farmsteads our great grand-parents had prior to industrial agriculture. In these farms, all the necessary energy comes from the sun via plants, mainly grasses. Nearly all farm animals, cows, sheep, chickens, used to eat grass and grass only. There was no need for any other inputs and once they matured on a buffet of free grass, they could be slaughtered and eaten. Additionally, they would contribute back to the farm by perpetuation the natural ecosystem that had evolved, returning nutrients to the soils. In this traditional model, you can run an entirely self-sufficient farm just like your ancestors did with absolutely no dependence on fossil fuels, just pure natural sunlight.
