There are a variety of regulations that apply to gun ranges, those having to do with the environment, in addition to safety and gun law regulations. All of these requirements vary from state to state, as arms ownership and environmental protection is still largely a state matter. You can read about Michigan’s environmental requirements for shooting ranges here: http://docs.google.com/gview?a=v&q=cache%3AxXkudg1fu0kJ%3Awww.deq.state.mi.us%2Fdocuments%2Fdeq-ead-p2-shooting-envregs.pdf+gun+range+regulations&hl=en&gl=us&sig=AFQjCNHNfstoYyPdZItJdNOXZFhzTPVmTg&pli=1.
Some of the examples of environmental regulations include maintaining soil acidity, recycling, etc.
