The biggest contribution that renewable energy makes for the environment is a sustainable form of energy that reduces our dependence upon finate resources such as gas and oil. As the world begins to reach the end of the easily extractable gas and oil, these resources will not only become more expensive but more scarce. Renewable energy will become more important in maintaining the viability of our society in the future. Particular to the environment, renewable energy reduces our energy use and makes energy more efficient, as it is typically used near the source, and doesn’t require the energy for extraction, and typically reduces the pollution for generation and transportation from traditional forms of energy.
