Stay away from oils which contain Saturated fats and/or Trans fats. These are considered “bad” fats. Instead, go for Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated fats, which lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol. The following lists are taken from the website below:

    *Good Cooking Oils*:

    canola oil
    flax seed oil
    peanut oil
    olive oil
    non-hydrogenated soft margarine
    safflower oil
    sunflower oil
    corn oil

    *Bad Cooking Oils*:

    Vegetable shortening
    Hard margarine
    Palm oil
    Palm kernel oil
    Coconut oil
