Smaller cooking devices generally use less energy than larger ones. So, if you have to bake something small, opt to use a toaster oven, as opposed to a conventional oven. For stovetops, gas uses less energy than electric stovetops, and there is a new type of induction stovetop that claims to use even less while cooking very efficiently, and with hardly any wasted heat. Microwaves have very low energy consumption relative to most general kitchen appliances.
