You cannot recycle materials with food residue. When recycling material, the items being recycled all have to uniform, or as uniform as they can be, meaning that they need to be as pure of the material as they can be. When, for example, paper is saturated with the oils from food, it is no longer pure fiber. The oils from the food will contaminate the other materials being recycled. For this reason, it is important to not only know what is recyclable, but also be diligent in sorting your recycling properly.
