What is iodestone?

I believe you meant Lodestone.  A lodestone is a natural occurring magnet that led ancient people to the property of magnetism.  They were also used as primitive forms of magnetic compasses.  There is only one other mineral that is naturally magnetic, pyrrhotite, and it is much less magnetic than Lodestone is.  It typically is black and/or brown with metallic characteristics.

Lodestone is the mineral magnetite, an iron oxide. There are other minerals in addition to pyrrhotite that are also weakly magnetic, including chromite and ilmenite.
