Conventional mattresses are filled with synthetic materials that are primarily used as flame retardants. Pesticides and chemical processing that are in most conventional mattresses are unhealthy as well as bad for the environment.

Plastics are the main culprit of environmental damage. They take thousands of years to break down. Mattresses also have metal and wood inside them, so if they are not recycled those too could be bad for the environment for the simple fact they are bing wasted and not reused.
