I don’t know if I can provide a specific example to that question because I think no industry is close to being sustainable. There are pockets of every industry, however, that are trying and move towards sustainability, and industries inevitably find themselves intertwined. While transportation accounts for over a quarter of energy consumption in the US, people are beginning to take head and take more public transportation, carpool, or buy hybrids. As consumers start to buy more organic food, renewable practices result. Sadly, until enough consumers and people put their purchasing dollars towards sustainability (or if serious, un-ignorable environmental impacts occurred), corporations and consumers won’t feel a need to make a change.
