The country has put on a program to hand out more efficient and cleaner stoves to poor rural areas to save of electricity and help with the nation’s air pollution problem. The project is still in the making, but they hope to hand out a lot of stoves over the next year.
This is an initiative that India has not yet been implemented, but that will strive to improve stove efficiency for Indians who use biomass (wood, cowdung, etc.) cookstoves. Right now, thousands of people die every year due to indoor pollution caused by black carbon emitted by inefficient stoves, not to mention the impact that black carbon emissions have on the environment and global warming.
