Arthropods are the largest animal group on Earth and are found in all kinds of habitats  — in freshwater and saltwater, forests, rainforests, etc.  They are also an integral part of the food chain, as they are a source of nutrients for most animals (including humans) and some plants.  In the forest, arthropods are not only a source of food; they are responsible for litter decomposition and nutrient cycling.
