Organic matter to be decomposed, earthworms, heat, time, and oxygen. Voila! you’ve made yourself some great compost soil.
You want a carbon material to nitrogen material ratio of about 30:1 for a good compost that breaks down well. If there isn’t enough carbon material, try adding things like leaves or cut grass. If there isn’t enough nitrogen, dump your coffee grounds in there! Also, make sure to turn the pile and shred carbon material well. There shouldn’t be “layers” of material. And, make sure your compost pile is well drained so the pile doesn’t get too wet. .
