What is hydraulic fracturing?

Hydraulic fracturing is the process by which fractures are created in rocks from water or another liquid. This can occur in nature (water), or be a man-made process. This process allows more water to flow into natural or unnatural aquifers. Environmental concerns with man-made fracturing are about concern with the fracturing chemical liquids draining into the aquifer.
