What household chemicals do we need to get rid of for the sake of the environment?

Well, in terms of saving the environment, the more chemicals you can eliminate from your household, the better. However, detergents may be some of the most harmful because the phosphates they usually contain are prime nutrients for algae, which can clog waterways and change the structure of the ecosystems within them.

Some consider industrial solvents to be the most damaging chemicals to the environment. Look out for products that contain benzene, propyl alcohol, or dichlorobenzene, among others.

Drain and oven cleaners are unfortunately not great for the environment, either. Of course, different people think that different substances are more or less harmful depending on their particular outlook, but these seem to be some of the big ones to avoid.
