Hot composting is similar to regular composting except this method depends on heat-loving and heat-generating bacteria. The pile needs to be a certain size, temperature and have proper balance of food, water and air. The pile can reach temperatures as high as 140 degrees or more. It is a rapid decomposition that is hot enough to kill most weeds and disease-causing organisms.
