what is a homozygous allele?

Alleles occur in the genotype of someones DNA. They are the pieces that code for particular genes instead of others. A homozygous allele occurs when two genes are identical in the same spot in the DNA. If the organism that had a homozygous allele reproduced with another organism, then it would only have that single allele to pass on to its offspring. An example of a homozygous allele would be seen as TT or tt.

A homozygous allele refers to having identical alleles for a single trait. Check out the link for more information.
