What is a “high desert?”

    The term “high desert” refers to the high altitude deserts of the American Northwest.  The most famous high desert is the Mojave desert in Nevada, which ranges in altitude from 3,000 to 6,000 feet.  The Mojave desert is also noteworthy for its Joshua trees.

    High Deserts are inland deserts at high elevations in the Western part f America. Examples of high deserts in North America include the Great Basin Desert and the Mojave Desert.Others are more specific regions like orthwestern San Bernardino County, northeastern Los Angeles County, and far eastern Kern County in the U.S. state of California.
