A herbicide is an agent that kills plants. Herbicides are often used to get rid of unwanted weeds and invasive plant species. An example of a common herbicide is RoundUp.
Like majphan said, an herbicide is a chemical that kills plants. “Cid” means to cut or kill, so it kills plants (herbs). Most herbicides are harsh chemicals that can damage the environment. You can physically remove weeds and crabgrass by pulling them as close to the root as you can, or you can make your own herbicide: corn gluten, vinegar, soap, cola, etc. It’s the acidity in these things that helps kill the weeds.
