The drug-free way of healing a sprained ankle is ice and elevation. Staying off of the hurt ankle is a given. If you do have to walk on it, wrap it and ice it after activity.
You should elevate your leg to try and reduce swelling. Also take a anti-inflammatory to reduce swelling. You should ice on 30 mins off 30 mins for the first 2 -3 days and then use a heating pad the same on and off for the next 2 -3 days. Stay off it and wrap it tightly to keep swelling down and give support.
