According to many scientists, mountain-top mining is an incredibly environmentally harmful strip-mining process where the entire top of a mountain is removed to access the coal underneath. Environmental problems with mountain-top mining include the generation of waste, pollution from toxic chemicals such as heavy metals, and damage to streams and other wildlife habitats.
