What trees have the largest roots?

The tree that may have the largest root system of any tree in the world (although there’s no verifiable source for this) is the Banyan tree in the Indian Botanical Garden in Calcutta. The roots of the tree cover three acres, and has nearly 2,000 supporting roots. Banyans in general tend to have enormous root systems, so that species is a likely contender for the type of tree with the largest roots in general.
