Yes. Approximately $4.5 billion will go to Smart Grid technology. However, some of this money will be invested in improvements in the existing electric grids. There is speculation that Smart Grid technology investments may soon outpace investments in alternative energy.
More than 4.5 billion dollars was allocated in the stimulus bill for smart grid growth. That money was supposed to start being distributed by the department of energy by April. Currently, companies and utilities across the country are making requests for shares of the stimulus money for their own smart grid projects.
