Sewage treatment is the process of cleaning wastewater and sewage of contaminants. Sewage is cleaned biologically, physically, and chemically. The goal is to produce waste that is non toxic and suitable for disposal or reuse. The first step involves allowing the waste to separate. Next micro-organisms are removed. Last, it is disinfected. Acrylamide, benzoapyrene, bromate, chlorite, haloacetic acids, and chloramines are some chemicals I found that are in drinking water. The website attached has a lot of information on what else is in your water. http://www.epa.gov/safewater/contaminants/index.html
