According to the Janka Hardness scale, a system used to measure the hardness of wood, The hardest type of wood is Brazilian Walnut.
The Janka scale measures in pounds, the force it wold take to push a .444in steel ball to half it’s diameter into the wood, and Brazilian Walnut has a Janka rating of 3684.
Runner up is Ebony, with a Janka rating of 3220.
