Molten rock under extreme pressure breaks through the earth’s surface and is released out of the break, where it flows downhill until it cools.

Volcanic ash can explode out of small vents and cause damage to organisms and houses in regions in proximity to a volcano. Volcanic ash refers to small rock fragments that are comparable to broken glass. Clouds of volcanic ash can also pose a hazard to aircrafts passing through them.
