What happens when bad weather conditions get in the way of bird migration?

This is a good question! At times bad weather can really mess up bird migration. The birds may get lost in the storm or blow off track. Some times the birds will have to stop in an area where there may not be ample or the correct food for them or where there may not be much shelter or a lot of predators. Some times the areas are full of human development and the birds are very stressed and cannot find protection from the storm.

One great example of how bad weather affected bird migration is the Cattle Egret. This bird is now found throughout the world because the birds have been blown off-course.
